Since 2005 Jon Lee has been actively collecting adult stoneflies (Plecoptera) in order to improve taxonomic resolution and knowledge of the distribution of stoneflies in California. This research has led to some exciting discoveries that are listed below. An indirect effect of collecting adult stoneflies is the collection of adult caddisflies (Trichoptera) that, with the aid of fellow researchers, has also led to some interesting results. Future collecting will include other groups in an effort to help improve the understanding of aquatic macroinvertebrate species distribution in the western United States.
